so-called glacier


Blue saw this at St Mary's Glacier in Colorado. Evidently it's borderline for the label "glacier".

  1. The "glacier" can be extremely dangerous! Yeah, right. No one's willing to admit that it's really just a glorified snowball.

  2. Actually... this is an absolutely correct use of quotations marks.

    St. Mary's Glacier is a very large snow field. It has been called "St. Mary's Glacier" for many years, but it is not really a glacier because it doesn't move.

    Thus, the sign accomplishes its intended purpose while remaining scientifically correct.

  3. Joe st is right. It's actually an alice and not really a glacier. A rare correct usage of quotations.
