I stumbled on this blog today. I love it that so many other people are bothered by the way quotation marks are misused - I thought I was just really pedantic!
I have finally reached the end of the day And the last thing on my schedule is the same I'm just waiting for the guard at the desk to say, "All you need to do is print your name!"
Print your name Please print your name This way we can be sure that you came Print your name Please print your name That is what the guard will exclaim
I guess they are asking people to write, "Please print your name." It's one of those tests, like when someone says, "Repeat after me. I, state your name..." and thus can discern who is able to follow directions to the letter and who isn't.
WV: stsked. Perhaps I shouldn't have given it away.
