    Brutus refers to Ohio State's mascot. They're the Buckeyes. Which is a type of nut. The quotation marks signify the wordplay.

    Yeah, this is definitely a pun. It is from this year's Rose Bowl game. And I guess Brutus wasn't so "nuts" since the Buckeyes won.
