They do that in commercials for movies sometimes when they're quoting a rating from some critic. Perhaps Ebert and Roper gave this spa five stars?

Yeah, this is obviously a quote from some unspecified spa-rating expert!
I don't see what's wrong with quoting that there are five stars, seeing as how printing the actual shape as a visual aid makes sense.
Apparently whoever said "*****" did so off the record since they obviously didn't want to be identified.
