Those flowers are Bird-of-Paradise, so maybe they don't want you feeding the plants, in which the "birds" would be appropriate.
That doesn't explain the "please".
Nice try Doctor Tarr. I've never been to Hawaii, but i wonder do they have an ongoing problem with people feeding plants that aren't theirs? And what are they giving them anyway?
