Well, it's true that New York isn't all that new anymore, and it bears little resemblance to York, England. Aside from that, this sign is just a mess.

Unfortunately, I can attest the punctuation is indeed NY style.
I like that "Brooklyn" was added to further clarify which variety of "new" "york" "style" is being promoted.
