This one actually makes sense for NYC more than for most places. In our main street grid, what we think of as north and call north is actually northeast -- it's a problem for tourists, especially when the streets start angling more in the neighborhoods like the Village and around Wall St. You can be going logical-North and actually be going much more east.
Hey, I totally commiserate. That's about how good my sense of direction is. I feel an air quote opportunity coming on: next time my husband asks where we're headed.(He should know better by now.)
Please send your submissions via email to bethanykeeley (at) gmail.com. I look at them all, but it might take a while to get to yours -- sorry! I love you all, but I only have so much energy in a day.
If you want your picture to make the blog DO NOT @tweet them, or leave them in a comment. I need them all in the same place. Make sure your emails are easily distinguishable from spam or viruses (I use gmail web interface, so images get previews).
I don't usually post the following: newspaper headlines, personal email, craigslist postings, unprofessional websites. I also tend to not crosspost things from other blogs, since I have so much unique material waiting for me to get to it.
Things I see a lot: silica gel "do not eat"; hair dryer labels; inside the bus "do not drill"; Wal-mart sign about IDs; coffee machine with "2" cup sizes; employees must "wash hands"; that failblog post.

We have a freeway marked North that goes due west for a while. (And South goes due east). Maybe they should have "North" on the entrance ramp signs.
That sign would apply perfectly to Montreal.

And in New Mexico, there is the phenomena of parallel roads which merge. Signs of this nature would be appropriate there.
Amazing post....
thanks for sharing....
