Hahaha "an independent lab". That's awesome.
"An independent lab" here likely refers to the owner's mom.
They probably mean a stray retriever who peed on one of their signs.Hey, M, you have won a blogging award from me. Come by, pick it up and take a bow: http://blogonkevin.blogspot.com/2008/07/once-whiner-now-winner.html.
Actually, this one makes sense. In their TV ad campaign, they close with the "independent lab" slogan, and then their pet Labrador retriever barks his approval. Indeed, there is no actual laboratory taking tissue samples of Realtors. False alarm, everybody! Quotation marks necessary!
It's actually pretty "cute"! (Sorry.) However, since it translates better in video, perhaps they should have printed a photo of the "lab"rador on the sign. At least THEN people would "get" it. *zipping out to avoid quotation-mark hail storm*
They wanted to make it clear that, while the lab has not been paid to produce this rating, it may in fact be party-affiliated rather than independent. It is an election year, after all.
