Isn't the hyphen also unnecessary?

Everyone one who's commented so far is just trying to keep this G-rated, right? I'm not the only one who thought "by yourself enjoyment" was a euphamism for... umm...err... Oh just admit it, you were all thinking what I was thinking!

little fish: um, yes. My post was meant to be a nod to the assumption that everyone was thinking that but maybe I didn't need to say it on a family website. But it was perhaps overly subtle.

❉ pixie ❉: The hyphen is arguably correct, as "by-yourself" is a compound modifier for the noun "enjoyment." If "by yourself" followed "enjoyment" ("hours of enjoyment by yourself"), it would be rendered without a hyphen, because it would be acting as a prepositional phrase.
