Seriously. I'm not sure if "tug" refers to anything illicit in particular, but it sounds like it could. And if we're having a fest of it... Thanks, Brieanne.
A church having a Tug-Fest would be bad... a church having a "Tug-Fest" (with the implied eye wink, and elbow nudge) is just terrible.
I'm not even joking that I wouldn't take my children there. Either because the pastor is so out of touch that he doesn't realize that his sign incorrectly implies... or because little Tommy is about to be on a news report.
sorry, i can't help it, i'm from the area and i'm familiar with the fest. the tug fest is an annual tug of war match across the mississippi river. there are lots of vendors and activities and fireworks along with the actual tug. that said, i'm still weirded out by the use of quotations by that church...
Please send your submissions via email to bethanykeeley (at) gmail.com. I look at them all, but it might take a while to get to yours -- sorry! I love you all, but I only have so much energy in a day.
If you want your picture to make the blog DO NOT @tweet them, or leave them in a comment. I need them all in the same place. Make sure your emails are easily distinguishable from spam or viruses (I use gmail web interface, so images get previews).
I don't usually post the following: newspaper headlines, personal email, craigslist postings, unprofessional websites. I also tend to not crosspost things from other blogs, since I have so much unique material waiting for me to get to it.
Things I see a lot: silica gel "do not eat"; hair dryer labels; inside the bus "do not drill"; Wal-mart sign about IDs; coffee machine with "2" cup sizes; employees must "wash hands"; that failblog post.

i had to type over my first two comments so i've decided not to leave a comment at all because i can only think of dirty things to say!
Perhaps it's a Wilson family reunion?

I consider both bad.
I shall do my best to attend "Tug Fest" next year.
