Here's what I said when I sent it to her:

It's probably a parkway, through-road, garden path or parking lot. Informally we've always called it our little driveway.
Having had my share of "senior moments" i might guess it is actually a gate leading TO a driveway but they couldn't remember the word for gate....
Brings to mind that question, "Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?"
