Deanna saw this in the Gatlinburg TN area. Evidently just having a welcome sign is not enough, it must also say "welcome" to you. Or maybe the sign was there to sarcastically welcome the welcome center.
Or there are several welcome centers, and this one's name is "Welcome"? Like the rest stops on the new Jersey Turnpike -- "Walt Whitman," "Joyce Kilmer", and their merry pals.
Please send your submissions via email to bethanykeeley (at) gmail.com. I look at them all, but it might take a while to get to yours -- sorry! I love you all, but I only have so much energy in a day.
If you want your picture to make the blog DO NOT @tweet them, or leave them in a comment. I need them all in the same place. Make sure your emails are easily distinguishable from spam or viruses (I use gmail web interface, so images get previews).
I don't usually post the following: newspaper headlines, personal email, craigslist postings, unprofessional websites. I also tend to not crosspost things from other blogs, since I have so much unique material waiting for me to get to it.
Things I see a lot: silica gel "do not eat"; hair dryer labels; inside the bus "do not drill"; Wal-mart sign about IDs; coffee machine with "2" cup sizes; employees must "wash hands"; that failblog post.

Maybe it's to differentiate it from the "Goodbye" Welcome Center?
I've seen this sign! If you visit, don't go on voting day--liquor stores are closed. Can't have the mountain folk gettin plastered and mis-voting.
What a lame slogan for a welcome center.

the even funnier thing is this building is located right next to the local department of redundancy department
oh, one more thought...do you think the 'welcome' and welcome cancel each other out leaving the center to become known as the aloof center?
un-believable.
Who are they actually quoting, anyway?
