"interesting"

Lindsey took this picture at the Michigan Renaissance Festival. She says the shop sold weird medallions with angels on them. I think in this case, "interesting" is euphemism for "weird" or possibly "boring".

You know what's "interesting"? The shop is in the Lord of the RIngs. [shire]

I'm guessing the term "shire" can be used more broadly - after all, tolkien was a midevalist.

Yes. In the mid-west, "interesting" is indeed a euphemism for "weird" or "bizarre" or anything that the speaker finds not to their liking.

Usually said with a beat or two silence before, as in: My, Carol, that's an...interesting hair color you have there.

In my family, "interesting" means...
A. I have not even heard what you just said.
B. I am certainly not thinking about it, nor will I ever.
C. I've already begun planning dinner in my head while you were talking just now.
D. That was anything but interesting.
