This from frequent commenter Minh. While these cafeteria sandwitches may or may not be made with eggplant, they are still vegitarian (hence the (V) below). I don't like eggplant, but maybe "eggplant" will do it for me...

Not eggplant, but egg plant. Not sandwich, but sandwhich. I think this gives them the excuse to serve anything they want.
^ I'm a little confused. I don't see an error in sitboaf's post. I do, however, see a reference to this mysterious thing called an "addage" in yours. Might want check that OED yourself ;)
i would say with confidence that it actually says sandwhick. or sandwhiclc.
and i'm guessing that the finnie family thought sitboaf was trying to say that eggplant was supposed to be egg plant, etc. which leads me to believe that it was probably one of the younger finnies commenting. how embarassing to act condescending and not only be wrong, but to make that very mistake all at the same time. all in the same sentence! a braying donkey springs to mind.
Exactly what are the QMs supposed to be enclosing? One of them seems to be a single quote and the other is sort of dangling between the words. I almost expect the word "Umbrella" to be written nearby. ;)
I was simply pointing out the sign's existing spelling errors. I wasn't correcting incorrectly. Also, the finnies used a wink at the end, which was either mitigation for a passive-aggressive barb, or was meant all in fun. I tend to to think the former. Guess they didn't get my "joke." No worries. Let's hug it out.
Please send your submissions via email to bethanykeeley (at) gmail.com. I look at them all, but it might take a while to get to yours -- sorry! I love you all, but I only have so much energy in a day.
If you want your picture to make the blog DO NOT @tweet them, or leave them in a comment. I need them all in the same place. Make sure your emails are easily distinguishable from spam or viruses (I use gmail web interface, so images get previews).
I don't usually post the following: newspaper headlines, personal email, craigslist postings, unprofessional websites. I also tend to not crosspost things from other blogs, since I have so much unique material waiting for me to get to it.
Things I see a lot: silica gel "do not eat"; hair dryer labels; inside the bus "do not drill"; Wal-mart sign about IDs; coffee machine with "2" cup sizes; employees must "wash hands"; that failblog post.

The 'sandwitches' may be 'vegitarian' but I prefer vegetarian sandwiches.
PS. sitboaf, the old addage about people in glass houses springs to mind. Check the OED before you throw stones ;-)

You can actually make out a dot where the the left stroke of the opening quotation mark would be. And yeah, I'm pretty sure it says “sandwhick”.
I’m told in previous years they used to place quotation marks around any meat, such as “meat” loaf and fried “chicken”. Fun times.
