or stay put, see if we care

Actually it's a new dance move - the "evacuate"! Thanks to submitter Nix who found this at a university.

Maybe they actually want you to empty your bladder...

Ha, Martin I was going to write something similar. I think it is an instruction to evacuate one's bowels. You know, "evacuate".

I suppose if the "alarm" was "alarming" enough we wouldn't need to think about it, we'd "evacuate" quite suddenly.

They want you to imagine the sign shouting at you. Fire is serious!!

Oh my God, this sign is soooo funny! I could see this sign in someone's workplace. They have a fire drill, then 'Tony' says "Sorry, boss, I have to go home to change. I heard the fire alarm and shit my pants!!"

when I worked at a university a few years ago, one of my many duties was to be the fire-warden for my wing/floor of the building I worked in.

Part of the duties of that role during an emergency or drill was to walk into the (opposite gender) toilets and instruct anyone I found there to "evacuate immediately".

It conjured up mental images I really didn't need. :-)

So wait- do I evacuate, then proceed to a safe area? Or does the evacuation happen as a group with a warden instructing? Am I assisting impaired persons with their evacuation? How impaired are we talking? Like lifting from a wheelchair onto a toilet, or full-on adult diapers?

Is it a sort of squatting and squinting kind of dance?
